Republicans bail on bailoutSo the government had a plan. It was the only plan they could come up with. Bail out Walstreet before it sours beyond reparation. This morning the plan went to vote and it failed. How? Here are the voting tallies: The measure needs 218 votes for passage Shortly after the vote Wall Street plummeted 700 points. Our country is in an economic disaster and our government can't set aside partisan bull shit in an attempt to right this sinking ship. And how did the presidential candidates vote on this bill? I have tried and tried to locate this information and the most I could find was that Obama was planning to vote and McCain was hoping to vote. What? Planning? Hoping? We need definitive answers here. We do not need politicians shirking their duties for fear they would lose votes. This is our country in an economic crisis. We need commitment. In all honesty, I have no idea what will solve this country's crisis. But I assumed those in charge could at least come to some agreement in order to put something in motion. Instead we wound up with a bunch of knuckleheads who did nothing more than vote "I told you so" so they could look back and pat themselves on the back. America is going to have a revolt on its hands. It may not happen until tax time when the whole of America throws up its hands and says "I've had enough, if the government won't help us why should we help them?" Of the people, for the people my ass. Our government is for themselves and nothing more.
