So tomorrow is the fourth of July. Most people break out the big hoohaa with fireworks and such. But most don't realize that the independence was originally from tyranny and corruption.

So riddle me this: how do we celebrate independence when we are currently governed by an administration who could be considered tyrannical (not just Bush but the administration as a whole) and is certainly corrupt.

Of course, the way I see it, holidays in the US really aren't for celebrating a cause or a bit of history as much as they are an excuse to get off work and get drunk.

So, instead of looking at the fourth of july as an excuse for anything, I am going to celebrate independence from that one looming monster called gasoline. I am not going to start up a car tomorrow. And I would challenge anyone reading this to do the same thing. Give our lame duck prez the "sod off" by not adding pennies to his pocket buying gas.

Celebrate your independence from gas tomorrow. Walk. Ride a bike. Stay home.

Now I just have to tell the wife. ;-)
