So I just read on CNN.com that, if elected, Obama would raise taxes on the wealthy. And by wealthy he means any person making $200,000 or more and any married couple making $250,000 or more would be taxed more than those of us making less (which is a vast majority of people.) To that I have to say:

IT'S ABOUT TIME!

You see, there's no way this country is going to do the SMART thing and move to flat tax. That would be an ideal system that would ensure that everyone pays the same percentage. Why won't we do that? Simple - it would put too many CPAs out of business and piss off too many uber wealthy citizens. "What do you mean I have to pay the same rate as the poor? How insulting!"

But instead - what needs to happen is the wealthy need to pay more. Why? Well, the wealthy tend to enjoy good enough lawyers to find enough loop holes to help them avoid paying. And many times the wealthy get away with things the non-wealthy do not.

So why not? If you have more - you should pay more. I'm not saying break the wealthy's collective bank. Nor am I saying the wealthy should foot our bill. But I am saying that those who can - should.

Of course this will probably scare the wealthy into voting for Bush Jr. Jr. - that'd be McCain for those of you who don't really follow politics. But that's fine because there are far more of us non-wealthy people than there are wealthy people.

So hopefully the non-wealthy citizens will finally stand up and realize their vote does in fact count more now than it ever has.
